Beijing - the Capital City of China

Beijing Olympic Stadium - The Bird's Nest

Beijing (also formerly known in English as Peking) is a metropolis in northern China and the capital of the People's Republic of China. On August 8th 2008, the 2008 Olympics was opened here.

Forbidden City, Beijing

[Forbidden City] At the heart of Beijing's historical center lies the Forbidden City, the enormous palace compound that was the former home of 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties. It was declared a World Heritage Site in 1987 and is listed by UNESCO as the largest collection of preserved ancient wooden structures in the world.

Opening Hours:   April 1st-October 31  8:30-17:00 Last Entry at 16:10 Tickets sold until 16:00
    November 1st-March 31 8:30-16:30 Last Entry at 15:40 Tickets sold until 15:30

Beijing Temple of Heaven

[Temple of Heaven] It is located in southeastern Beijing, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Temple of Heaven was built in the 15th century, a sacred site for ancient Beijing, where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties made visits for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for good harvest.

Opening Hours:   From March 1 to June 30:  8:00-17:30
    From July 1 to October 31: 8:00-18:00
    From November 1 to February 28 of the coming year: 8:00- 17:00

Summer Palace Beijing

[Summer Palace] 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) from central Beijing, was first built in 1750. Its 70,000 square meters of building space features a variety of palaces, gardens and other ancient-style architectural structures, so Summer Palace is regarded as the museums of garden architecture.

Opening Hours:   from April 1 to October 31:   6:30-18:00
    from November 1 to March 31:  7:00-17:00

National Aquatics Center, Beijing

[National Aquatics Center] Know as "Water Cube", the National Aquatics Center is one of the three landmark buildings for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. It is located on the southern part of the central area of the Olympic Green, has 17,000 seats and covering a total floor space of 50,000 square meters.

National Stadium, Beijing

[National Stadium] The National Stadium, also known as the bird´s nest, is located in the Olympic Green, hosts the Beijing 2008 Olympic opening and closing ceremonies, as well as athletics and football competitions. After the Olympic Games, the stadium becomes a center for sports, cultural and creative activities
